Special Education Needs & Disabilities Co-Ordinator (SENDCO)
At Thurgoland Childcare, we strive to ensure that our provision is inclusive to all children with special educational needs and disabilities.
We do this by identifying the specific needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and meet those needs through a range of strategies and targeted provision, including individual planning to meet your child’s needs. We also work closely, in partnership with parents and other agencies and conduct regular reviews of our policy, practice and provision in order to meet these needs.
At Thurgoland Childcare we are lucky to have two SENDCOs who have both received full and relevant training in order to provide the best quality care and teaching for your child.
Our SENDCO will work with all our staff to ensure our SEND provision is relevant and appropriate. We use the graduated approach system for identifying, assessing and responding to children with special educational needs. If you would like any more information you can make an appointment to speak to one of our SENDCO’s and they can explain the process for identifying and supporting children with SEND.
Should you have any concerns over your child’s development, your first point of contact would be your child’s key person however the Nursery Manager/SENDCO is always available to talk things over with and to offer advice where necessary. As a setting, we are able to signpost parents to other professionals who may be able to help in specific areas.
We pride ourselves on our success and continual strong record for children who have extra needs and can assure you an empathetic and supportive approach to turn a potentially complex and worrying time into a fulfilling and rewarding experience for everyone.
